In a bid to maintain their exclusive lodges and camps, luxury travel company andBeyond has announced scheduled refurbishment of Bateleur Camp located in Maasai Mara.
Sections of the iconic tented camp will be closed for refurbishment from November 15 as the company seeks to upgrade it to enhance luxury, while at the same time retaining the authentic vintage safari atmosphere of the camp.
The guest tents at the iconic camp will be completely rebuilt and refurbished, and increased in size to an impressive 97 m².
New features in the guest tents will include built-in day beds on private verandas, strategically situated to ensure uninterrupted views of the surroundings, as well as open-air stone courtyards flanking the bathroom. New finishes will include deep bathtubs, sumptuous furniture and fittings, and chrome ware.
Fitness centre
Al fresco showers will add a touch of authentic safaris, which butler hatches will allow for service that is intimate and discrete.
Lighter Talek stone finishes will contribute towards the more spacious feel of the suites.
The new look andBeyond Bateleur will have two swimming pools, with extensive poolside decking providing the ideal location for outside dining.
A well-equipped fitness centre will also be set up to enable health enthusiasts to exercise in full view of a magnificent Maasai Mara panorama. There will also be a massage parlour and water feature to add to the serenity of the camp.
Closing dates
While the guest areas at North Camp will be closed, six guest tents at South Camp will remain open until January 2018.
The entire camp will be closed from January 2018 to the end of February 2018, with North Camp scheduled to reopen on March 1st, 2018. The refurbishment of the entire camp will be completed by June 2018.
