Kenya Airways has appointed Sebastian Mikosz as the new Chief Executive Officer and managing director.
Mikosz, a Polish national, will take over from the outgoing MD Mbuvi Nguze from June 1, 2017.
Mikosz has more than 20 years of experience having worked as CEO of esky.pl a leading central European online travel agency and LOT polish Airline.
In his announcement on Thursday, Kenya Airways Board chairman Michael Joseph said: “In December 2016, the Board engaged the services of an international search firm, Spence Stuart to assist in identifying a successor to Mbuvi as Group Managing Director.”
“I am pleased to announce the Board has finally reached a unanimous decision on this matter.”
The only other expatiate to head the airline was Brain Davies, a Briton who led the company from 1992 to 1999.

Kenya Airways is numbered among the most established airlines.
Kenya Airways has been on the rocks for years now, with the latest numbers showing a Sh4.78 billion loss for the half year ended September 30.
The financial turbulence aside, Kenya Airways is regarded as one of the most established airline with 37 fleets, flying to 62 destinations.
The airline is run through a public-private partnership with the Kenyan government being the largest shareholder with 29.8 per cent stake followed by KLM at 26.7 per cent.
Mbuvi Ngunze resigned in November 2016 after a turbulent two-year stint at the helm of the airline.
