The Royal Caribbean revealed this week that the Symphony of the seas is expected to be the biggest cruise ship to date and will be launched in April 2018. This title was previously held by the line’s little sister, Harmony of the Seas, which was launched in 2016 with a capacity of 5,479 passengers, as compared to the Symphony of the Seas that will be 1,188 feet long and 215 feet wide, with 16-decks carrying 5,500 passengers in 2,774 cabins. The hallmark of the ship will be a 1,346 square-foot suite that’ll take vacationing with the family to a whole new level of luxury.

Harmony of the Seas
Appropriately called the Ultimate Family Suite, the two-bedroom cabin will sleep up to eight people and feature a slide between the children’s bedroom and the living room as well as a 212-square-foot wraparound balcony. As if that weren’t enough, the suite will also include a climbing wall built of out LEGOs, a 3D movie theater with a popcorn machine and video game library, a whirlpool, and air hockey for good measure.
The rest of the ship is proving to be as elaborate as the family suite, though many of its features are on par with what Harmony of the Seas already offers. There will be a 100-foot drop water slide, a Bionic Bar that serves drinks by a robotic arm, and a sports bar and arcade with 30 large-screen TVs.

Instead of lining up to board the ship, passengers will be able to check in via a mobile app. The Symphony of the Seas will spend its inaugural summer in Europe stopping at Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Provence, Florence, Pisa, Rome, and Naples – before arriving at its cruise terminal in Miami, which at 170,000 square feet, will also be newly built for the ship.
