Congratulations to Ketan Khambhatta, who becomes the second monthly winner in the Greatest Maasai Mara Photographer of the Year competition with his image, “There’s Food for Everyone.”
Talking about the idea behind the photo, Khambhatta said, “The Mara has abundant food for everyone, but that does not come without a fight nor without a strategy. Sometimes patience too is necessary.”
Earlier this year, the Angama Foundation in partnership with Nomad Magazine launched a competition seeking to find the Greatest Maasai Mara Photographer of the Year, with 10 monthly winners being put towards a grand final with a $10,000 prize and five night safari for two at the Angama Mara.
Khambhatta was accompanied by the Wild Eye Mara Camp guide, Sammy Ngotho, who stands a chance of winning a new Suzuki Maruti Gypsy.
Adam Bannister, one of the judges, said of Khambhatta’s photo: “The hunger, the fight for survival and the brutality of daily life in the Maasai Mara is so exquisitely captured in this photograph.”
